Road Trip!!

We just got back from a week long road trip! We drove up to San Francisco and then made our way down the coast along Highway 1 ( the Pacific Coast Highway). We did so many things and saw so many sights! Our first stop was San Francisco....

San Francisco
-rented bikes and rode them 25 miles across the golden gate bridge and into Sausalito and Mill Creek
-Ate dinner at House of Nanking
-Ate breakfast at Dotties True Blue Cafe...so good!
-stayed at the extremely ghetto Renoir Hotel
-Had a sundae from Ghirardelli
-visited the farmers market
-saw my friend Brooke:)
-visited Muir Woods and saw the giant Redwoods
-went to the Oakland temple
-saw Lombard street
-rode on the cable cars
-walked a TON!
-went to fisherman's wharf
-took about 400 pictures of the beautiful city!!

We left San Fran Sunday afternoon and drove down to Santa Cruz. On our way there we stopped in Half Moon Bay to see the famous surf break "Mavericks". It was completely flat so we weren't able to see any of the huge waves that they sometimes get there. But Josh still thought it was pretty cool to see. When we were walking on the beach there were about 4 seals that were on the shore dead. They smelled awful! Zoie has the weakest stomach so it made her throw up. We felt so bad for her but at the same time it was pretty funny! After that we taught her how to plug her nose so she plugged her nose for about the next 30 min. , even after we were back in the car and away from the seals! Next we were off to Santa Cruz....

Santa Cruz
-visited the Mystery Spot....seriously so cool!
-went to the surf museum
-played on the beach
-spent the evening playing on the famous boardwalk!

We left Santa Cuz Tuesday morning and made our drive down to San Simeon. On our way there we went to Pebble Beach and went on the 17 mile drive. We saw some beautiful homes and golf courses! We also drove through Big Sur and saw the beautiful coast! We stopped and took a little hike to a point that we could see a waterfall that dropped into the ocean. It was really pretty and the water was such a cool color!

Our next stop was in San Simeon. This is a tiny town and there is absolutely nothing to do there! We were not even in the town for 24 hours. We went there to tour the Hearst Castle. The castle was amazing! We had fun seeing the gardens and the beautiful house!

After San Simeon we made our way down to Solvang. This is a little dutch town. They had a lot of windmills and pastry shops! It was a really cute place and I am glad we got to see it!

Our last stop was in Santa Barbara. At this point, we were pretty tired from our trip and Zoie kept asking us to go home cuz she wanted chocolate milk. So we decided to keep our visit short and just rent a surrey bike and ride it on the boardwalk for a few hours. It was so much fun! Zoie was obsessed with her helmet and thought it was so cool! She kept telling Josh and I to go faster so we got quite a good workout!

Our trip was a blast! Since we moved here we have talked about how cool it would be to drive along the PCH and see the beautiful coast. We are so glad that we did it! The scenery was beautiful and we had so much fun spending so much time with our little family! Here are the pictures to actually prove that we did everything that we said we did.....
